Today has been awesome.

Yeah...what the title says.

The day started off pretty well: went into school, had two History revision sessions which involed a large bag of giant chocolate buttons and one of my favourite teachers ever, went home.

Then I spent the afternoon making rainbow cakes whilst dancing around the kitchen to the radio, which was fun times. The cakes looked awesome and I would post a picture but I don't have one. There are a few left, so I might take a photo tomorrow.

Then I went out to my orchestra rehearsal. As you may or probably don't know, I play the viola in an orchestra. And usually, it's really...meh. I tend to yawn throughout the evening and my friend Sally has to poke me continually during the second half to keep me awake.

But not this week. This week, several very awesome things happened:

1) My friend Ellie who went to LeakyCon bounced up to me, full of stories from Boston which would make me jealous. Between these envy-inducing stories, she pulled out a piece of paper which was addressed to me and signed by John Green. John Green! John fricking Green!!! I don't think I have ever been so happy over a piece of paper before. I just stared at it and grinned like an idiot. And then she described in detail the smashage of Alex Carpenter's guitar, which she witnessed firsthand and from right in front of the stage. She is so lucky. LeakyCon 2011 - I'll see you there.

2) In the break between the string ensemble rehearsal and the full orchestra rehearsal, we ate my cakes. They were very very very nice. I was so pleased with how they turned out.

3) I haven't been to orchestra for a few weeks, so I wasn't aware that we had a new conductor. Suddenly, this very round-faced man wearing a bright pink tie ambles over and starts talking to us in a voice which reminded me of a cross between Jack from Will and Grace, and a very annoying gameshow host. That just made me laugh.

4) After eating the leftover cake mixture and buttercream icing after making the cakes and eating probably the biggest one in the box, the excessive food colouring and icing sugar tipped me over the edge. I was incredibly hyper for the entire second half and Sally didn't have to poke me once.

Now I'm at home with my magical piece of paper propped up next to the computer and smiling a lot.

It's been a good day.

I hope wherever you are, your day has been just as good.

Bye
